Weed control and sustainable rice production through rice intensification system and conventional practices of weed competition periods and age of transplanted seedlings

Rice is an important cereal crop of global interest based on its daily uses. It was observed that the average yield rice low than potential production due to traditional growing techniques and weed intensification. Recently, intensification system (RIS) has emerged as alternative conventional cultivation system. A two-year field study carried out investigate impact seedling age (14, 21 & 28 days) competition periods (weedy check, 20, 40, 60, 80 DAT weed-free throughout season) in cultivated through RIS. Weedy check for season were kept a control treatment. The results our revealed maximum dry weight (108.7 111.79 gm-2) weeds density (101.7 110.6 plants m-2) recorded weedy plot where days old seedlings transplanted while minimum (11.01 10.3 (9.7 10.9 achieved plots remain free. noted biomass gradually increased with increasing period at all ages seedling. Purple nutsedge (C. rotundus) exhibited relative proportion total weed’s also ranked first by summed dominance ratio (WSDR).
